Kitties, New Friend, Bargain, Humor, Freebie

Since BBK seems to have found a new home, I’ve been pretty lonely.  Today I got a call from someone I’d left a message with, about a kitten.  I’m not sure if I’m getting the kitten yet, but if I do, you can be sure I’ll keep you updated, and inundated with pictures.  Probably more important, I made a new friend (I hope).  We spent over 2 hours onthe phone talking about everything, and I learned a ot from her.  Most pleasant afternoon I’ve had for a while.  I really do hope we keep in touch, Kitty or no.

Once Upon a time there was a king.

 

The king had a beautiful daughter, 
The PRINCESS.   

But, there was a problem:

Everything the princess touched would melt.

No matter what; 

Metal, 

Wood, 

Stone, 

Anything she touched would melt.  

Because of this, men were afraid of her. Nobody would dare marry her. 

The king despaired. What could he do to help his daughter? 

He consulted his wizards and magicians. One wizard told the king, 

‘If your daughter touches one thing that does not melt in her hands, she will be cured.’ 

The king was overjoyed and came up with a plan.

The next day, he held a competition. Any man that could bring his daughter an object that would not melt would marry her and inherit the king’s wealth..  

THREE YOUNG PRINCES TOOK UP THE CHALLENGE. 

The first brought a sword of the finest steel. But alas, when the princess touched it, it melted. The prince went away sadly .   

 The second prince brought diamonds.  He thought diamonds are the hardest substance in the world and would not melt. But alas, Once the princess touched them, they melted.   He too was sent away disappointed.  

 

The third prince approached. He told the princess, 

‘Put your hand in my pocket and feel what is in there.’ 

The princess did as she was told, though she turned red .   

 She felt something hard. She held it in her hand. 

And it did not melt!!! 

The king was overjoyed. Everybody in the kingdom was overjoyed.   

And the third prince married the princess and they both lived happily ever after.

I am a fan of Covergirl in general, particularly their waterproof mascaras, and am now testing Covergirl & Olay Ageless Makeup as a BzzAgent .  I mistakenly ordered a color grouping way too dark for me, but, found the foundation is great for sculpting and blends in well with other makeup.  The eye concealer and corrector are terrific, and  I will keep buying them.  Definitely something to look for when you go shopping.

I can’t make this because one of us has to watch Hubby’s cholesterol.  It looks good and easy though.

Broccoli Cheddar Soup

1 cup onions, chopped

4 garlic cloves, minced

2 Tbsp butter

16 ounces broccoli, chopped (fresh is best, but frozen is good)

6 cups chicken or turkey stock

1 cup milk

4 Tbsp all purpose flour

3 cups shredded medium to sharp cheddar cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Saute onions and garlic in butter in a deep pot until translucent. Add chopped broccoli. Add chicken or turkey stock. Cook for 20 minutes on medium heat. Mix milk and flour in a blender until smooth. Add milk and flour mixture to the pot. Puree the soup until it is smooth. Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring regularly. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add cheese to the soup and stir until the cheese is blended. Let the soup cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. Serve the soup with crusty bread. Serves 6.

I haven’t seen BBK for  about a week now.  I keep going outside to see if he’s sleeping on the chair, and he’s not.  Someone has eaten his food a couple of times, but mosly not.  I think I need a real pet.  This makes me too sad.

We had a family get togehter Saturday, and I brought this bread.  My sister doesn’t eat nuts, and Hubby and daugher don’t eat raisins, so I substituted diced dried apricots and applesauce, and it came out most and yummy.  Next time I’ll bake it a little shorter time, check after 50 minutes.

Banana Fruit  Bread

2 eggs (1/4 cup egg whites)

1 cup sugar (a drop less)

3 ripe bananas (frozen or fresh), diced

1 tsp baking soda

1 pinch nutmeg

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup diced dried apricot, (raisins, or any dried fruit)

1/4  cup applesauce

1 tsp salt

2 cups flour

Peel and dice your bananas, and chop your dried fruit.

One by one, whisk together the ingredients, in the order that they’re listed.

Bake at 400* for 60 (check after 50) minutes. Let cool and serve.

BBK, Makeup Bargains, Freebies

BBK didn’t show up, even to eat, for two days, and I was beginning to worry.  Yesterday, when I was putting in my tomatoes, he came to watch.  I dragged him into the house (not literally), and between Hubby and myself got his first dose of Frontline Plus on.  I’m afraid more got in his coat than on his skin, but I’ll hope for the best.  Of course now he won’t come near my door, just goes right to “his” chair.   He’ll thank us later.
