The plumbers came and it appears all is well.  I’m thinking positive.

We got this from HSN.com.  Har loves his hard boiled eggs, and while it doesn’t poach well, it makes great, as far as I can tell perfect, hard boiled eggs.  Real easy to peel.  We set the timer on the microwave for what we estimated to be the right time to turn the egg thingy off, but that wasn’t necessary.  It honked for all it was worth at us till we turned it off when the eggs were ready.  Handy feature for forgetful me.

I’m seeing sun peek out. It’s been dreary here for days. I think I stop functioning when it’s gloomy out. This morning I got up at 7, much later than my usual 5 am, but then I was up for hours in the middle of the night. Got Hubby his lunch packed, and him out the door. Now I have peppers roasting. A nice variety of colors, red, yellow and orange. I think I’m pretty much over green. Once I peel the peppers and seed them, I’ll be using them on sandwiches, salads, and anything that stands still long enough. They’re my crave of the month. I put a poblano in for good measure. May add it to my cabbage casserole I’m making up later. I’ll let you know how that goes.

I missed out on these in the Onyx and White Shell, and the Turquoise Mosaic and White Shell reversibles, but I did get this Soladite and White Shell version.  Even with $5  S&H I think they’re a steal at the $10 clearance price, and the color goes with my everyday denim.   From HSN.

GARDEN SNAKES CAN BE DANGEROUS…
Snakes also known as Garter Snakes ( Thamnophissirtalis ) can be dangerous. Yes, grass snakes, not rattlesnakes. Here’s why.
A couple in Sweetwater , Texas, had a lot of potted plants. During a recent cold spell, the wife was bringing a lot of them indoors to protect them from a possible freeze.
It turned out that a little green garden grass snake was hidden in one of the plants. When it had warmed up, it slithered out and the wife saw it go under the sofa.
She let out a very loud scream.
The husband (who was taking a shower) ran out into the living room naked to see what the problem was. She told him there was a snake under the sofa.
He got down on the floor on his hands and knees to look for it. About that time the family dog came and cold-nosed him
on the behind. He thought the snake had bitten him, so he screamed and fell over on the floor.
His wife thought he had had a heart attack, so she covered him up, told him to lie still and called an ambulance.
The attendants rushed in, would not listen to his protests, loaded him on the stretcher, and started carrying him out.
About that time, the snake came out from under the sofa and the Emergency Medical Technician saw it and dropped his end of the stretcher. That’s when the man broke his leg and why he is still in the hospital.
The wife still had the problem of the snake in the house, so she called on a neighbor who volunteered to capture the snake. He armed himself with a rolled-up newspaper and began poking under the couch. Soon he decided it was gone and told the woman, who sat down on the sofa in relief.
But while relaxing, her hand dangled in between the cushions, where she felt the snake wriggling around. She screamed and fainted, the snake rushed back under the sofa.
The neighbor man, seeing her lying there passed out, tried to use CPR to revive her.
The neighbor’s wife, who had just returned from shopping at the grocery store, saw her husband’s mouth on the woman’s mouth and slammed her husband in the back of the head with a bag of canned goods, knocking him out and cutting his scalp to a point where it needed stitches.
The noise woke the woman from her dead faint and she saw her neighbor lying on the floor with his wife bending over him, so she assumed that the snake had bitten him. She went to the kitchen and got a small bottle of whiskey, and began pouring it down the man’s throat.
By now, the police had arrived.
Breathe here…
They saw the unconscious man, smelled the whiskey, and assumed that a drunken fight had occurred. They were about to arrest them all, when the women tried to explain how it all happened over a little garden snake!
The police called an ambulance, which took away the neighbor and his sobbing wife.
Now, the little snake again crawled out from under the sofa and one of the policemen drew his gun and fired at it. He missed the snake and hit the leg of the end table. The table fell over, the lamp on it shattered and, as the bulb broke, it started a fire in the drapes.
The other policeman tried to beat out the flames, and fell through the window into the yard on top of the family dog who, startled, jumped out and raced into the street, where an oncoming car swerved to avoid it and smashed into the parked police car.
Meanwhile, neighbors saw the burning drapes and called in the fire department. The firemen had started raising the fire
ladder when they were halfway down the street. The rising ladder tore out the overhead wires, put out the power, and disconnected the telephones in a ten-square city block area (but they did get the house fire out).
Time passed! Both men were discharged from the hospital, the house was repaired, the dog came home, the police acquired a new car and all was right with their world.
A while later they were watching TV and the weatherman announced a cold snap for that night. The wife asked her husband if he thought they should bring in their plants for the night.
And that’s when he shot her.

Since Hubby just got his first Social Security payment, this hit a nerve.  I got it in an email, and haven’t verified anything, but the principle is there.

SOCIAL   SECURITY NOW CALLED   ‘FEDERAL   BENEFIT PAYMENT’/ENTITLEMENT!
Have you noticed , your Social Security check is   now referred to as a   “Federal   Benefit Payment”?
I’ll be part of the one percent to forward this.
I am   forwarding it because it touches a nerve in me, and I hope it will in you.
Please   keep passing it on until everyone in our country has read it.

The   government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a “Federal   Benefit Payment.”;
This isn’t a benefit – its   earned income!
Not   only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too.
It   totaled 15% of our income before taxes.
If you   averaged $30K per year over your working life, that’s close to $180,000   invested in Social Security.
If you calculate the future value of your monthly investment in social   security ($375/month,
including   both you and your employer’s contributions) at a meager 1% interest   rate compounded monthly,
after   40 years of working you’d have more than $1.3+ million dollars saved!   This is your personal investment .
Upon retirement, if you took out only 3% per year, you’d receive   $39,318 per year, or $3,277 per month .
That’s   almost   three times more   than today’s   average Social Security benefit of $1,230 per month,
according   to the Social Security Administration (Google it – it’s a fact).
And   your retirement fund would last more than 33 years (until you’re 98 if you retire   at age 65)!
I   can only imagine how much better most average-income people could live in   retirement if
our   government had just invested our money in low-risk interest-earning accounts.

Instead,   the folks in Washington pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff ever did.
They   took our money and used it elsewhere. They “forgot” that it was   OUR   money they were   taking.
They   didn’t have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to   them.
And   they didn’t pay interest on the debt they assumed.
And   recently, they’ve told us that the money won’t support us for   very much longer.
But   is it our fault they misused our investments?
And   now, to add insult to injury, they’re calling it a   “benefit,” as if we never worked to earn every penny of it.
Just because they “borrowed” the money, doesn’t mean that our   investments were a   charity !
Let’s   take a stand.
We   have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare.
Demand   that our legislators bring some sense into our government –;
Find   a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going, for the sake of that 92% of   our population who need it.
Here’s   a novel idea: Reduce the military budget to support our own population.
Get   out of the countries who don’t want us there.
Bring   our soldiers home and invest some of the $700B+ in giving them new careers
building   roads and parks, teaching our children, creating new technologies,   discovering cures for illness.
Then take the rest and begin to pay back Social Security, and call it what it is: Our Earned Retirement Income.

Hi.  Remember me?  My computer went into the shop (Staples) to et my “stuff” transferred.  They didn’t get my Organize files, but copied a bunch of stuff.  Unfortunately, now the computer won’t read my keyboard or printer.  Must bring it back.  I’m on the old one, which is not my friend.

Last Thursday my daughter and I spent an early Mothers Day.  We had tickets to The Chew at 7:30 am.  Caught a 5:42 train into the City.  I think Michael Simon is the cutest.  My daughter got to sit at the tasting table, and it was “Wing Day”.  What can be yummier than wings?  The show will be on 6/21 and she’ll be the taster in the purple dress.  I’m the very short person behind her in a blue blouse.  After the show we went to a coffee-house (okay, coffee is up there in the yummy department too).  One of the camera men recognized my daughter and came over to talk (hit on her?).  He was cute, but she’s taken.  We had a nice talk about the show.  Then, she took me for a Mothers Day lunch at Rosy’s Mexican.  Super pomegranate margarita, lamb tacos, and duck enchilada.  Queen of the doggie bag here finished every bite, and sip.  Everything was delicious, and they make great rice.

Then, we went to The Fella’s apartment and took a nap.  He was out training (he teaches at a City College and is a personal trainer).  We then headed out to Big Daddy’s diner, where I treated the two of them to dinner to celebrate is grad school graduation the next day.

I got home on the railroad at 12:37 where Hubby met me after work.  Long, but very good day.

I have a store to ward you about.  I ordered two room dividers, on sale with coupon.  After they didn’t come, I called to ask about them.  I was told they cancelled the order because they were out of them.  I checked online, and they still have them, but at a higher price.  I will no longer shop at Furniture, Rugs and Home Decor | Home Decorators Collection.  They’re officially on my poop list.

Hope you all had a lovely Easter/ start of Passover.  Hubby decided he had to have lamb for Easter, so we  spontaneously went out to eat.  Ended up at J&R Steak House (which will always be Big Barry’s to me).  He had a nice Easter special with rack of lamb.  I noticed they charged a dollar more than the big sign outside said.  Our young waiter actually had to go outside and read the sign.  The computer was set wrong, and apparently they were mischarging all day and nobody noticed.   I ordered the 24 oz prime rib, of which I ate a quarter after having great lobster bisque (was truly surprised at how good it was), pickles, and some of Hubby’s salad.  Will have a lovely dinner tonight with the garlic mashed potatoes I barely touched.  Anyway, I had an epiphany there.  I realized that kids think that Easter is when people celebrate the Easter bunny finally laying it’s blue and purple eggs.  Works for me.

If you’re in the masrket for ceramic bakeware, QVC charges a bit for their Temptations, but they get great reviews.  The way to save money is to pick the set you really want, and go to QVC every day and type in the search box “as is temptations”  Those are returns and demo sets, and a good amount of the price is taken off them.  Unfortunately UPS dropped the first set I ordered, and really wanted, but I got this set instead, not as many pieces, but then, less to store.  Saved $16.  I’m just a little sad I didn’t notice that they don’t have handles or lips.  I’ll figure it out.  All the other sets I’ve seen do.
