Buzz, Review & Bargains

Whiz kid here  put my tomato soup in a container lasat night, for Hubby to bring to work today, and promptly left it on the counter all night.  Down the drain.  Foiled again!  Anyway, I got this package of Bear Creek Tortilla Soup at the supermarket last week (reasonable for 1/2 gal @ $3.59), and it cooksd up quick, so I decided to try it.  Of course, I had to put something of me in it, so I grated garlic into the water to boil, and diced up a smallish potato to throw in.  Anyway, it’s done from start to finish in about 20 minutes, and Hubby has a big bowl for dinner, since he’s working his 4th night of OT this week.  Tuna salad sandwich on Kaiser roll for lunch.  Guess the point of this is that it tastes very good, and is reasonable and easy to make.

I do love Friday’s, and think I’ll throw on my cape and fangs and go get me some free potstickers.

Nothing much today, but a good download.  Waiting to hear from lawyer.  Hubby faxed a ton of stuff to the mortgage broker yesterday, and the broker called and told me it was all blank sheets.  Ooops.  Will try again.

Buzz & Bargains

I sent Hubby to work with a ton of stuff to fax to or mortgage broker this morning.  He couldn’t – boss was in.  Thus the following purchase.  Also got the bank to waive the $5 per fax fee and send my last two bank statements to him.  Slowly but surely……..

With all the paperwork that has to go here and there, I really need a fax machine, and my printer that copies ands scans died, and I’m using one that ONLY prints.  Didn’t even know they made those anymore.  This came free with something, laptop or camera or something like that.  Anyway today I found me a bargain at Canon.com.  Had to pay tax and s&h, but it came to less than $50.  Refurbished, but as returned to Canon as an overstock.  http://shop.usa.canon.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10051_10051_247754_-1#  Canon PIXMA MX320 – Multifunction (fax/copier/printer/scanner)  They have more, and they’re good for PC or Mac.  Great reviews on Amazon.

Buzz, Freebie & Bargain

I know I’m being bad about blogging.  My mind is in a million (or 3) places at once.  Be patient with me.

Ray-Ray’s eye still looks awful.  I’m stalling going back to the vet because I’m really afraid he’ll have to lose it.  I’m in tears just typing that.  Poor little guy.

Haven’t heard from condo lawyer yet, but probably won’t for a few days.

There was no room in my freezer, and I’d bought a bunch of ground turkey (93% fat free), and chuck roast for steak pizziolla.  I asked Hubby to throw out everything on the bottom shelf (narrow, and I have no idea what’s there).  I think that was very brave of me, and now everything new fits.

Condo Update

Not a real blog today, just a short summary.  We got lost on the way to the lawyer, but got there about a half hour and two calls late.  She was really nice.  She seemed glad I asked questions, and hopefully the ones I did, and the things she noticed on the contract that weren’t on my behalf, will save me lots of money.  Speaking of lots of money, nobody told me to bring a nice, juicy, check with me.  Maybe you all know much better than I, but I didn’t think I had to bring money till both sides signed the contract.  Apparently the check goes to their lawyer  and in escrow till things are done.  Anyway, I had to write a check for her to hold till I could get enough in the account to cover it.  Fortunately, I have a savigs account at the same bank, so was able to transfer the funds and tell her to send it.  Hubby is getting more excited.  I’m getting more scared.

Anyone have a good, all in one printer with fax, that they recommend?  I think I need one.

Condo Buzz, Freebies & Bargains

I got a call.  Apparently the condo is on again.  First the real estate agent, henceforth to be known as Joe, called to tell me to call the lawyer, condo available again.  Before I could call her, she called me because he’d called her to tell her the buyers backed down.

I had a funny feeling the sellers (bank? short sale) were sorry they agreed to let it go so low, and bid on it themselves to see if I’d match. When I didn’t, they backed down. Lawyer didn’t think so, but said it was possible. It’s been on the market for quite a while, and it’s funny it suddenly got 2 offers in one week.

 

Back to fingers crossed mode.  Lawyer Monday morning.

Chicken Buzz, Bad Condo News, Bargain, Freebie

I buy chicken at Sam’s Club, which means I have to buy two at a time.  For a family of 4 that wouldn’t be so much, but for the 2½ of us, it’s a lot.  Last night Hubby managed to eat half a chicken (the dark meat) and I ate a breast & wing.  That leaves a chicken and a quarter for salad, quesadillas, pot pie, and kitty treats.  This is why I don’t buy chicken every week.  I do make the two at a time on my beer butt chicken stands, one with a Pepsi can half filled with white wine and the other canless.  Great seasoning for chicken, I learned from Bobby Flay, is Garam Masala.  Good taste and great color.  Of course I add my own seasonings too, and rub some under the skin.

Kitty and Condo Buzz, Freebies & Bargains

Ray-Ray’s eye is infected and ulcerated.  A lot of pressure.  If the oral and ointment antibiotics don’t help, he may have to lose the eye.  I’m so sad for him.  He’s gone through more than anyone should in a lifetime, and has come through it with a wonderful disposition.  Keep your fingers crossed.  We”ll see the doctor again Friday morning and learn more.
