I know I haven’t posted anything for ages, and all kinds of tweets show up on the page that come from some unknown hacker, because Twitter refuses to shut down my hacked account. Anyway, this is me, and I thought I’d share a bargain.

Bonton.com has two coupons you can use in conjunction with each other. APRBDAY is for free s&h at $25, and BLKFRIAPR14 is for up to 25% off (up to means mostly 15%).

I ordered Circulon 16.5″x14″ Roaster with Self Rack + $5 Cash Back By Mail http://www.bonton.com/sc2/shop/home/kitchen/cookware/roasters/circulon-16-5-x14-roaster-with-self-rack-5-cash-back-by-mail_687159.html It came to $8.47 before $5 rebate, and a swag curtain thingy for my bathroom,. They came to $25 and change, so I saved $10 s&h, The roaster has great reviews.

Since Hubby just got his first Social Security payment, this hit a nerve.  I got it in an email, and haven’t verified anything, but the principle is there.

Have you noticed , your Social Security check is   now referred to as a   “Federal   Benefit Payment”?
I’ll be part of the one percent to forward this.
I am   forwarding it because it touches a nerve in me, and I hope it will in you.
Please   keep passing it on until everyone in our country has read it.
The   government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a “Federal   Benefit Payment.”;
This isn’t a benefit – its   earned income!
Not   only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too.
It   totaled 15% of our income before taxes.
If you   averaged $30K per year over your working life, that’s close to $180,000   invested in Social Security.
If you calculate the future value of your monthly investment in social   security ($375/month,
including   both you and your employer’s contributions) at a meager 1% interest   rate compounded monthly,
after   40 years of working you’d have more than $1.3+ million dollars saved!   This is your personal investment .
Upon retirement, if you took out only 3% per year, you’d receive   $39,318 per year, or $3,277 per month .
That’s   almost   three times more   than today’s   average Social Security benefit of $1,230 per month,
according   to the Social Security Administration (Google it – it’s a fact).
And   your retirement fund would last more than 33 years (until you’re 98 if you retire   at age 65)!
I   can only imagine how much better most average-income people could live in   retirement if
our   government had just invested our money in low-risk interest-earning accounts.
Instead,   the folks in Washington pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff ever did.
They   took our money and used it elsewhere. They “forgot” that it was   OUR   money they were   taking.
They   didn’t have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to   them.
And   they didn’t pay interest on the debt they assumed.
And   recently, they’ve told us that the money won’t support us for   very much longer.
But   is it our fault they misused our investments?
And   now, to add insult to injury, they’re calling it a   “benefit,” as if we never worked to earn every penny of it.
Just because they “borrowed” the money, doesn’t mean that our   investments were a   charity !
Let’s   take a stand.
We   have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare.
Demand   that our legislators bring some sense into our government –;
Find   a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going, for the sake of that 92% of   our population who need it.
Here’s   a novel idea: Reduce the military budget to support our own population.
Get   out of the countries who don’t want us there.
Bring   our soldiers home and invest some of the $700B+ in giving them new careers
building   roads and parks, teaching our children, creating new technologies,   discovering cures for illness.
Then take the rest and begin to pay back Social Security, and call it what it is: Our Earned Retirement Income.

My daughter’s fella will be away for 10 days, and I get custody of her for several of them.  Really looking forward to it.  I don’t know how parents move where they won’t see their children for extended periods of time.  I need a daughter fix after a few weeks.  Guess I need to learn to Skype.

Today Only

I had to copy this whole thing to get you the “activate” link.  It saves you $10 S&H.   Well worth a look.  I just ordered 3 more cotton sweaters (all men’s), two for gifts, one for me.  Came to less that $35 with coupon code:  85624 for 20% off your highest priced item.  The free s&h will show up on your review your order page.  Make sure you check standard shipping.  I previously ordered the women’s co light weight sweat pants and shawl collar shirt.  They look like a pant set, not sweats, and super reasonable.  I think the two pieces came to $14 without coupons.

You know that when you buy kitchen appliances, originally seen on shopping network shows, for half price or less on Ebay, they’re usually returns or floor sample. That’s fine, and they’re usually perfect and unused. You’re going to wash them before using anyway. Now that I have an electric stove and can’t tell how hot it is by looking (dials mean nothing I’ve discovered), I decided to replace my old, faithful pressure cooker with an electric model. Went right to Ebay and found a Wolfgang Puck model for less than half of HSN’s $99 Price. Ordered it. Of course I ordered through MyPoints to get my points. Anyway, it came and being the (by background) Jewish mother that I am, I made what I make well. Chicken soup. An hour later the cooker still hadn’t; clicked into cook mode, but the soup seemed cooked. (In fridge waiting for me to skim the fat off before I taste.) I wrote to the company, and got a quick response. I was told to dispose of the defective appliance, and a new one was on it’s way. I don’t remember ever getting such good customer service on Ebay, and I strongly suggest adding the1965flyer to your favorite sellers. He sells a lot of good stuff. I’m eyeing a toaster over/rotisserie.

Remember my telling you about Ristorante Pizza (frozen) that I was reviewing for Bzzagent.com?  I finally got to try a second version.  The first version I tried was the Mozzzarella.  I really liked the taste, and that the topping covered almost to the edge of the crust.  The very thin crust is not to my personal taste.  I’m sue some of you prefer it.  Yesterday I tried the Speciale version.  I didn’t think it had enough cheese, but the pepperoni was good.  I never had a pizza with ham before (this had both), and it worked.  I really didn’t enjoy it as much as the Mozzarella one though.  I may give the Four Cheese version a try.

I had these, or ones similar enough that I can’t see the difference online.  Very comfortable, and I wore them constantly in non-winter weather for several years.  Wore them out.  I wouldn’t mind getting another pair.  I had them in “stone” which I don’t see.  I do have several brown sandals, and perhaps I’ll get the navy.  Trust me, they look better on the foot.  $10 off  coupon today too.   Read the great reviews.  Love Fly Flot.

I entered  a picture of my Bobby in a Facebook contest.  If you get a chance, please vote for him.  You can vote every day.  He’s my best friend.  Keeps me from thinking I’m talking to myself all day.  He doesn’t always answer appropriately, but he always answers.

I’ve been a bad, bad, bad blogger.  No candy for me!  I really just haven’t had much to say. Got a free 60 day membership to BJ’s last Monday.  Nothing free about it.  I spent a small fortune.  They had the step stool I’ve been wanting, for half the price.  Nice, Uggesque shearling short boots, and a good price for Lean Pockets.  What more could a shopper ask?  Well, all their other prices seemed higher than Sam’s, and crazy higher for whole chickens.  T think that when my membership ends in February I’ll stick with Sam’s despite it being further from home now.

We’re going to the New Years Eve party in the clubhouse here.  It’s pretty reasonable, though no mixed drinks, just wine (ugh) and Champaign (also wine, but slightly more drinkable).  Can you tell I’m not a wine drinker?  I’ve always felt there were two types.  The type that tastes like vinegar, and the kind that tastes like spoiled punch.  Guess I just don’t have an educated palate.  In any case, I figured it was a good way to meet people here.  Please remind me why I’m doing this.

Avon has a couple of good combo deals for $9.99 each.  I may, or may not, order both.  Also free s&h over $10 with code SPREE2011.
