You know that when you buy kitchen appliances, originally seen on shopping network shows, for half price or less on Ebay, they’re usually returns or floor sample. That’s fine, and they’re usually perfect and unused. You’re going to wash them before using anyway. Now that I have an electric stove and can’t tell how hot it is by looking (dials mean nothing I’ve discovered), I decided to replace my old, faithful pressure cooker with an electric model. Went right to Ebay and found a Wolfgang Puck model for less than half of HSN’s $99 Price. Ordered it. Of course I ordered through MyPoints to get my points. Anyway, it came and being the (by background) Jewish mother that I am, I made what I make well. Chicken soup. An hour later the cooker still hadn’t; clicked into cook mode, but the soup seemed cooked. (In fridge waiting for me to skim the fat off before I taste.) I wrote to the company, and got a quick response. I was told to dispose of the defective appliance, and a new one was on it’s way. I don’t remember ever getting such good customer service on Ebay, and I strongly suggest adding the1965flyer to your favorite sellers. He sells a lot of good stuff. I’m eyeing a toaster over/rotisserie.

Remember my telling you about Ristorante Pizza (frozen) that I was reviewing for Bzzagent.com?  I finally got to try a second version.  The first version I tried was the Mozzzarella.  I really liked the taste, and that the topping covered almost to the edge of the crust.  The very thin crust is not to my personal taste.  I’m sue some of you prefer it.  Yesterday I tried the Speciale version.  I didn’t think it had enough cheese, but the pepperoni was good.  I never had a pizza with ham before (this had both), and it worked.  I really didn’t enjoy it as much as the Mozzarella one though.  I may give the Four Cheese version a try.

I had these, or ones similar enough that I can’t see the difference online.  Very comfortable, and I wore them constantly in non-winter weather for several years.  Wore them out.  I wouldn’t mind getting another pair.  I had them in “stone” which I don’t see.  I do have several brown sandals, and perhaps I’ll get the navy.  Trust me, they look better on the foot.  $10 off  coupon today too.   Read the great reviews.  Love Fly Flot.

Whole bunch of people and agencies I need to contact.  Think I’m trying to avoid it all because it may become unpleasant.  Perhaps I’ll have Blue Bunny Bordeaux Cherry Chocolate Ice cream instead.  And we wonder why I’m fat!!!

I made one of my favorite comfort food dinners last night.  Smothered pork chops.  The chops smelled just a bit off, but I washed them and cooked them anyway.  Then threw the who dish out.  Smacking me upside my head.  If the chops were good, it’s a real simple dish.

Smothered Pork Chops

pork chops (4-6) sprinkled with salt & pepper

Large onion sliced thin

Large clove of garlic chopped

1 can cream of mushroom soup (I know, I know)

In evo sprayed chef’s pan, sear the chops and remove from from pan. Throw in the onions and saute. After translucent, add garlic and saute add’l minute or two.

Add 1/8 c water to loosen up the good stuff stuck to pan. Then add the chops and then the soup, spreading it over chops

Cover and simmer 30 – 45 minutes depending on thickness of chops. They will be fork tender and yummy.

Miss me?  I guess I took a week off without even thinking about it.  Sorry.  Apparently my old apartment complex took $1,000 off my deposit refund because they had to harry my futon to the dumpster which is about a half mile away.  I certainly couldn’t have done it.  Small claims court, here we come.  My lawyer refuses to do anything about the tax attachment that the title people should have found from the prior owner.  Contacting Bar Assoc. about her, but I’m sure they’ll protect their own.  Nothing is easy, ya know?  My shoulder was feeling better, but for the past couple of days it’s been worse.  Seeing Dr on 3/1.  Wish I had some great happy news to tell you.  Maybe tomorrow.

I bought large packages of chicken thighs and pork chops this past weekend.  Got to decide what to cook so I can fit the rest in the freezer.  In typical Honbee fashion, I haven’t found my slow cooker since I moved, but think I’ll try this in my Dutch oven.

Slow Cooker Tropical BBQ Chicken
  • 6 chicken leg quarters, skin removed
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 teaspoons minced fresh parsley
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • With a sharp knife, cut leg quarters at the joints. Place chicken in a 4-qt. slow cooker.
  • In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, orange juice, brown sugar, vinegar, oil, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and pepper; pour over chicken.
  • Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or until a meat thermometer reads 180°.
  • Remove chicken to a serving platter; keep warm. Skim fat from cooking juices; transfer 2 cups to a small saucepan. Bring liquid to a boil.
  • Combine cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually stir into the pan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with chicken. Yield: 12 servings.
