First, My Mamm came out fine.  Still waiting on Dexa and the other scans.  Had bloodwork done yesterday.  This new doctor is super thorough.  As he should be.  8^)

You can make your own judgement about whether I’m being paranoid or not.  For Father’s
Day I took Hubby to Applebee’s (his choice).  The meal was decent, and they made a not bad Margarita.  When it came time to pay, I gave the server a $25 gift card and my credit card.  When I got to a store later and went to pay, I didn’t have my card.  I called Applebees and asked it they had it.  Person left me on hold and never came back.  Some time later another person picked up and asked if I was being helped.  I told him what happened, and he said he was the manager and would check.  I offered that perhaps it was put in the drawer with my gift card by accident.  He came back rather quickly and said he had it.  I asked where he found it,.  He said someone said they found it on the table.  I told him it was never on the table, and he said that it was okay and I should pick it up, it would be in his pocket and I should ask for him.  I would normally say it was my own absent mindedness, but Hubby is sure that my credit card was never returned to the table.  I think the manager’s cavalier attitude about the card not being handled properly is a really scary thing.

These sets are always a good deal when Avon offers them.

Yesterday Hubby and I went for a s-load of tests.  We both had brain, heart, thyroid and carotid artery scans.  My scanners were talky, and I appear to be fine.  Harry’s didn’t talk.  Then we shot down to the Women’s Imaging Center and I got my Mamm and dexa scans.  They don’t have you wait while they’re reviewed at this place, so I have to hold my breath for a week.  I only go because they have all my records to compare to.  Other places I’ve gone let you know while you’re there, at least about the mamm.  Oh well.  Lots of info to wait for, for both of us.

Buzz, Video & Bargain

Not a very exciting weekend.  Stayed in, but didn’t accomplish nearly as much as I would have liked.  Did switch to summer bedding.  I never had a rough edge quilt before.  Ray-Ray seems to be quite amused.

My friend Brian sent me this link.  Turn up the sound, and enjoy the video.

I’ve told you several times that I’m a Bzzagent, and review items for them.  Lucky me, I got something I really need this time.  The older I get, the more my feet need to be pampered.  I always look for good padding in shoes, but after a while, it goes flat, even in better shoes.  I am currently testing  Dr Scholl’s Messaging Gel Insoles for Women.  I wore them for the first full day yesterday, doing shopping and a lot of walking.  I had them in my Clark’s mules, which I love, but they have gone flat in the ball of the foot.  I guess that the best thing I can say is that I didn’t take them off when I got home.  Didn’t even think about them.  My feet were happy.

I have this Kitychenaid blender, and I got it refurbished from Ebay, just like this one.  Mine is metallic Chrome.  I have never had a blender, even Kitchenaid, crush ice like this.  I throw I my frozen fruit and ice cubes to crush before adding my protein powder and almond milk (sweetener if needed), and have (in my opinion) the world’s best, and thickest, smoothies.  You can’t beat this for $50, complete.  Seriously, get one.  They even have a huge choice of colors this time.

Buzz & Recipe

Needed prescriptions, and my ribs have been a little bit of hell, so I went to the doctor Monday.  He’s new (to me, rather mature though) and very thorough.  I liked him a lot.  I don’t say that often.  He said I’d need x-rays of my ribs.  I had an appt already set up for my shoulder with the orthopedist for Wednesday, so knew I’d get an xray there.  He’s pragmatic though.  Told me what I already knew.  Ribs are like a nose or toe.  They’ll tell you if it’s broken, and send you home.  Nothing they can really do for it.  Will get my mamm and dexa scans, and bloodwork.  I like his style.  Isn’t sending me to a dozen doctors.  Think I’ve found myself a doctor.  As for my ribs, not broken, but apparently badly bruised.  I can'[t imagine how painful a break is if this is only a bruise.

I got a new waffle maker.  Anyone have a super duper recipe?

Got this recipe in email this morning.  I’m going to try it.  Of course some onion and some garlic may get into the mix, but that’s just me.

Chicken and Mushrooms
  • 2 chicken breast halves, boneless, skin-on
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Season chicken on all sides with salt and ground black pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil over medium-high heat in an ovenproof skillet. Place chicken skin-side down in skillet and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  4. Turn chicken over; stir mushrooms with a pinch of salt into skillet. Increase heat to high; cook, stirring mushrooms occasionally, until mushrooms shrink slightly, about 5 minutes.
  5. Transfer skillet to the preheated oven and cook until chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, 15 to 20 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Transfer chicken breasts to a plate and loosely tent with foil; set aside.
  6. Set skillet on the stovetop over medium-high heat; cook and stir mushrooms until brown bits start to form on the bottom of the pan, about 5 minutes. Pour water into the skillet, and bring to a boil while scraping the browned bits off of the bottom of the pan. Cook until water is reduced by half, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  7. Stir in any accumulated juices from the chicken into the skillet. Stir butter into mushroom mixture, stirring constantly until butter is completely melted and incorporated.
  8. Season with salt and pepper. Spoon mushroom sauce over chicken and serve.
