First, My Mamm came out fine.  Still waiting on Dexa and the other scans.  Had bloodwork done yesterday.  This new doctor is super thorough.  As he should be.  8^)

You can make your own judgement about whether I’m being paranoid or not.  For Father’s
Day I took Hubby to Applebee’s (his choice).  The meal was decent, and they made a not bad Margarita.  When it came time to pay, I gave the server a $25 gift card and my credit card.  When I got to a store later and went to pay, I didn’t have my card.  I called Applebees and asked it they had it.  Person left me on hold and never came back.  Some time later another person picked up and asked if I was being helped.  I told him what happened, and he said he was the manager and would check.  I offered that perhaps it was put in the drawer with my gift card by accident.  He came back rather quickly and said he had it.  I asked where he found it,.  He said someone said they found it on the table.  I told him it was never on the table, and he said that it was okay and I should pick it up, it would be in his pocket and I should ask for him.  I would normally say it was my own absent mindedness, but Hubby is sure that my credit card was never returned to the table.  I think the manager’s cavalier attitude about the card not being handled properly is a really scary thing.

These sets are always a good deal when Avon offers them.

Have a busy weekend planned.  Going to my cousin’s home in PA to visit her, her husband, and my 95 year old aunt who will also be visiting.  Then my daughter and I are going to a bridal shower for one of my “other” kids.  I’ll let Hubby do the food shopping.  Now isn’t that scary?  We’ll probably be eating hot dogs and peanut butter all next week.

I did something proactive.  I ordered address labels with the new address, and they will be sent to the condo.  Wonder if I’ll be there to receive them.

In case you haven’t done so for a couple of years, remember to put your phone number on the National Do-Not-Call Registry.

I haven’t seen one, but Kikkoman has a magazine they send twice a year.  I’m guessing it’ s recipes and coupons.

I spent (a small part of) the morning chopping up onions, jalapenos and bell peppers to freeze so I can grab a handful whenever I need to, and they won’t spoil before I use them.  If you try this, let the chopped bell peppers sit and dry out a bit before freezing or you’ll have a pepper ball.  Enjoyed them in my omelet this morning.

I was googling for hand vacs, and found this site.  They have bargain prices on all kinds of household items.  Tabletop grills, vacuums, organization products, etc.  It they’re out of something they’ll notify you when it’s back in stock.  Reasonable s& h.  BTW any suggestions about a good/inexpensive hand vac?

This is from Nextag.com, a great site for price comparisons.  Terrific bargain.

As heard on Food Network:  “….a dish so hot it makes you want to freeze your toilet paper.”  Made me laugh.

Going to lawyer to sign third contract on condo, and there sure are no guarantees.  Not holding my breath.  At what point does life become easier?

Just thinking about how much I wish Hillary was president.

We had a pretty nice weekend.  Saw Spamalot at the Patchogue theater yesterday.  While the theater was a bit warmer than I’d like (to keep me awake), the performance was excellent.  We really enjoyed it.   Went to Olive Garden after.  My order came with the wrong sauce, but it wasn’t bad once you got past the spinach.  My sister’s order came reversed from her request, and had to be redone.  I think everyone enjoyed though, and the service was cheery.  After driving themto the railroad, Hubby and I did some shopping and headed home.    I’m glad I taped all my shows because I dozed through most of them.

Make sure you watch gthe video I listed today.  You’ll never guess what the ad is for.

I’ve told you about OpenSky.com before.  It’s a site where you pick up to 10 celebrities, and they find bargains they like to offer you at a discounted price.  Truthfully, I haven t bought anything, but I enjoy looking.  The best bargain so far was a chopping board from Bobby Flay, but even with the 50%  discount, way out of my range.  Today I got notice Guy Fieri is joining, and I really enjoy his shows on Food Network.  I added him to my list.  I have mostly food and organization people.  If you want to join, or take a look, please use my link.

This is from my friend Brian. Great commercial.

Try and guess what this commercial is for … BEFORE it ends … It’s one of the best ads I’ve ever seen
My matrnal grandmother got me a wonderful Cinerella watch that came in a glas slipper when I was a child.  That wa a great gift.  Wish I knew what happened to it.  No Cinderella, but Mickey Mouse and Tinkerbelle on sale.

Haven’t been doing much of anything.  Trying not to drive around too much and waste gas.  I did make potato salad yesterday, and it came out pretty good.  You may have a better recipe.  It takes forever for those red potatoes to cook.  Patience was never one of my virtues.  Just trying to keep cool.  Dread my next electric bill.

I told the real estate agent for the co-op to put in a lowball bid.  They probably won’t take it, but I can see myself living there for the long term.  That deck, and view……….  We’ll see what happens, eventually.  Still haven’t heard on condo.

If you want a laptop that isn’t particularly portable (17.3″ screen) I think this is a super deal.  Woot® : One Day, One Deal™  Rock, scissor , paper tee shirt too.

Didn’t do much this weekend.  Just some food shopping.  It always amazes me that I can spend  $50+ and not get any protein.  Gas prices came down about 4¢.  Still no word on condo or co-op.  Limbo (pergatory?) here I come.

Hubby’s been out of work for a week and a half now.  So bored he’s actually doing laundry (so he doesn’t have to help me bake?).  Anyway, he found two useful links in PC World.

The first one has a bunch of free downloads of many kinds,  and a quicker browser of Mozilla.

Fun & Games Downloads | Freeware, Shareware, Trialware, and Reviews | PCWorld | PCWorld

The second has businesses that give discounts to seniors.  You may know one or two of those.  BTW, most consider 55 years old a senior.  Personally, I think it’s a kid.

Sciddy, Where Seniors Pay Less

Good Hubby!

Emeril has his own seasonings line.  He uses Emeril’s Essence in almost all his recipes.  Got the recipe for it from FoodNetwork.com.

Emeril’s ESSENCE Creole Seasoning (also referred to as Bayou Blast):

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme

Combine all ingredients thoroughly.

Yield: 2/3 cup

Okay, now a food recipe, from Taste of Home.  Just bought 2 lbs of junbo shrimp (will improvise), and I think everything is better with cilantro, but if you don’t like it, use parsley, watrecress, or basil.   I would usde this sauce for more than shrimp (as in veggies, tortilla chips, etc)

Grilled Shrimp with Cilantro Dipping Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh chives
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 pound uncooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveine

  • 1 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1 cup fat-free mayonnaise
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Dash cayenne pepper

In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the cilantro, oil, chives and garlic. Add the shrimp; seal bag and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

In a blender, combine the sauce ingredients; cover and process until blended. Chill until serving.

Thread shrimp onto four metal or soaked wooden skewers. Grill covered, over medium heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or until shrimp turn pink. Serve with sauce. Yield: 4 servings.
